Asian Counter-Strike is back in a big way with eXTREMESLAND.

Many CS2 fans feared the worst when Valve announced the switch to the VRS format for the competitive calendar — that smaller regions, like Asia, would miss out on events entirely. They’re wrong, with endemic organizer eXTREMESLAND making a comeback and kicking off the year with the eXTREMESLAND Asia Open!

16 teams from all over Asia will converge on Shanghai, China from Jan. 14 to 19 to determine who will open the year as one of the region’s top teams. A win in Shanghai means important VRS points, locking in potential invites to more events as the year progresses.

Here’s everything you need to know about eXTREMESLAND Asia Open including the schedule, results, teams, and more.

The eXTREMESLAND Asia Open 2024 is a Valve Regional Standings (VRS) event that features 16 teams from all over Asia and the Pacific regions. The attendees have been split into four groups of four where they’ll play out a GSL-style double-elimination bracket. The top two from each group proceed to the playoffs.

It’s a lot simpler for the playoffs: the final eight play out a single-elimination bracket. The last team left standing will be crowned champions. There’s more than a cash prize up for grabs in Shanghai this week: vital VRS points can be earned, meaning this isn’t an event teams should take lightly!
