DUBLIN, CA — Over 60 teams and 400 students competed at the 10th annual Battle of the Bay Tournament, Northern California’s largest regional VEX Robotics Challenge, which was hosted at Dublin High School on Jan. 26. For the 10th consecutive year, the tournament was hosted by Gael Force Robotics, the largest STEM club at the school.
The tournament offered teams the opportunity to participate in a number of robotics challenges. At the end, they offered 13 awards, including the Tournament Champions, the Design Award, and the Robot Skills Champion Award. High-scoring teams were eligible for the VEX State Championships.
Dublin High School Teams were not eligible to compete due to conflict of interest rules, though private Dublin teams participated.
The Gael Force Robotics club of students spent months organizing the conference, including registering teams, publicity, finding judges and referees, and livestreaming the competition. The club is also made up of four competition teams that compete at VEX robotics tournaments around the world. They also host a summer camp, a variety of workshops, and their own annual tournament. In their 16 years, they’ve hosted over 15 events and won over 180 awards.
