The esports program at Arkansas State University-Mountain Home recently completed its third year of competition, and it turned out to be one of its most successful. The TrailBlazers’ Valorant team qualified for nationals and secured a third place finish out of 42 teams in their division. In addition, the Rocket League team was seventh out of 35 teams to get a playoff spot, but they came up just short of advancing to nationals.

ASU-Mountain Home Student Success Coach Sara Anderson says this Valorant team – made up of Justus Sack, Angelina Valente, Xzavier Anderson, Donny Lofgren and Christian Lofgren – came together this semester and had an impressive season.

The Rocket League team is comprised of Garrett Robinson, Kiandre Burns, Donny Lofgren and Christian Lofgren. The TrailBlazers also launced a pair of Overwatch teams this year. Anderson says they didn’t fare as well in Overwatch, but they were proud as a program considering it was new to the university.

ASU-Mountain Home’s esports program competes as a club sport affiliated with the National Esports Collegiate Conference. Anderson says the teams competed in all of their matches from the esports center on campus.
