EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – Gamers showed up to Chippewa Valley Technical College to prove who’s the best.

Teams from CVTC, UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stout among others plugged in for the lan e-sports tournament.

Today’s tournament is a qualifier for the state competition.

This sort of event is typically a virtual one, but when glory calls these competitors show up.

“I just think that it’s really cool to have everybody here. We’re really excited to host. We have moved around a lot. We like to show off our esports program. We like to be a part of the college athletic experience here at CVTC. So, to be able to not only say we have a team but also be able to host a bunch of teams is really rewarding and satisfying and a great opportunity for CVTC and for our students.” Erin Hazen, Coordinator of Clubs and Leadership, CVTC, said.

The teams who qualify for the next round will compete at the state championships May 3 and 4 in Milwaukee.
