Fairfield senior heading north for college

FAIRFIELD — Fairfield senior Dimitrios Petrimeas signed his letter of intent on Thursday to attend Marshalltown Community College, where he will join the Tigers’ Esports team.
“I scouted a bunch of different colleges, but in the end, MCC is actually the one that came to me, and wanted me to play for them,” said Petrimeas. “They have a good Mario Kart team. I can thrive here.”
Petrimeas is one of the best Mario Kart players in the state, earning the nickname “The Greek God” of Mario Kart from his peers.
Petrimeas will major in Kinesiology at MCC, with plans to transfer after his two years is up.
Petrimeas has been playing Mario Kart for roughly five years. He says the attention to detail fits with his playing style.
“I think it’s the fact that you have to pay attention to everything and have quick reaction time,” Petrimeas said. “It’s one of those games where if you put in the hours, it will show.”
