The reestablished robotics team is set to focus on creating “general-purpose,” “adaptive,” and “versatile” robots capable of operating in dynamic, real-world environments with human-like intelligence. The goal is to mass-produce highly capable robots, potentially humanoid in form and possibly equipped with limbs, with production numbers reportedly exceeding one million units.
Current recruitment efforts are centered on three key positions:
- Electronic Perception Engineer: Responsible for developing custom sensor systems.
- Robotics Mechanical Design Engineer: Tasked with designing the core mechanical systems of the robots.
- Technical Project Manager: To oversee and coordinate the entire development process.
This strategic move aligns with industry trends, as other tech giants are also investing in robotics. For instance, Microsoft has partnered with robotics startup Sanctuary AI to develop general-purpose humanoid robots.
