BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – As artificial intelligence continues to become more popular and part of our everyday lives, Texas A&M is launching a new minor called Artificial Intelligence and Business.
The goal is to help equip students with AI.
Shrihari Shridar, senior associate dean of Mays Business School, helped spearhead the program.
“AI is no longer just in science,” he began. “You know, it’s not science fiction. It’s here. It’s pretty much in the boardroom. It’s in the break room. It’s on your phone. But it’s important to look at AI not just as a tool. You want to look at sort of how AI integrates into business and bring the intersection together, and that’s when value happens for society. We were excited, at Mays Business School, to see how we can take AI from being a tool to being something that can help build companies.”
Shridar said artificial intelligence is being used in business but also businesses are using artificial intelligence.
“Business is, in many ways, very simple,” explained Shridar. “It’s really four things you do in a successful business: You identify your source of value, then you create value for customers; you execute on that value every day, and then you leverage it for financial performance. AI actually makes all those four things better.”
The new minor is going to be available this Fall through a pilot program with limited enrollment. More seats will be available in Spring 2026.
