COLUMBIA CITY — The High School VEX Robotics Team placed at a world class event last weekend.

Not Quite Vexperts ranked 12th at the Kalahari Classic VEX Robotics Competition, which drew 177 high school VEX robotics teams from across the U.S., Canada and China at the Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, Ohio. The tournament, held Jan. 24 and 25, saw Not Quite Vexperts fight their way to the quarterfinals, ending the tournament ranked 12th. The team was a finalist for the A3 Safety Award.

The team is enjoying tremendous success, especially for a first-year team, including securing a bid to the state tournament earlier in the year. The team is made up of middle and high school students who are homeschooled or go to Columbia City High School. It is based out of the Whitko Career Academy under coach Chad Dhams.

The team members are Jayden Hagerman, Archer Medcalf, Max Sheckler, Will Yelton, Titus Bemis and Tyler Hoskins.
