As Savannah State University continues to forge ahead in the realm of esports, the establishment of the new esports lab has become a focal point for student engagement and academic innovation.

This lab, which is currently in development, located in Hubert A Room 104, is not only meant to enhance the gaming experience but has also opened doors for interdisciplinary collaboration among students from various fields.

The esports lab is designed to be a vibrant space where technology meets creativity. Equipped with high performance PCs, monitors, gaming chairs, headsets and keyboards, the lab serves as an incubator for everyone, including aspiring tech enthusiasts and esports athletes. It provides an environment where students can gain technical skills, work on projects, practice for competitions and even just come and relax and be around like minded individuals who share the same passion for gaming.

Sebastian Lubbers, the Esports and STEM manager has been instrumental in the lab’s development.

“I’ve put a lot of thought into this place in terms of overall design and equipment,” he said, emphasizing the importance of creating a functional and inspiring place for students.

His vision for the lab includes not only top of the line gaming equipment, but also an area for students to come together and foster a stronger community around esports and technology.
