EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The growing world of e-gaming has a whole new look at East Stroudsburg University.

The school unveiled a newly renovated facility, giving students the opportunity to compete among themselves and beyond.

It features more than 10 gaming stations.

“Everything here is brand new,” said Vinnie Tice, a student at East Stroudsburg University.

The facility is putting university students, like Vinnie Tice in a league of their own.

It is called the Warrior E-Sports room.

“Oh, it’s amazing. A bunch of people always come in here, play games, have little fighting tournaments, like Smash Bros,” said Tice.

The space that was created in 2021 now has a new, state-of-the-art look.

“We have a grant, as well as an alumni donor that helped us be able to fund this project,” said Joe Akob, executive director of the student activity association at East Stroudsburg University. “Last year, we started on it, talked to a lot of students, had a really great group of people on the project,” said Akob.

A gaming industry he said is growing tremendously.

Akob said all university students have access to the newly dedicated space whenever they want.

Students like Tice and Christian Wolfe compete against recreational e-gamers from other universities too.

“Competing against other universities is fun. I hope I have the time to do it more often one day and get better at it,” said Wolfe.

Competition in a space students can call their own.

“To be a part of this program, I feel very special because not a lot of people have this opportunity that I have,” said Wolfe.
