The Center for Teaching and Learning will host Dr. Abram Capone, teaching assistant professor of philosophy in the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences and CTL faculty teaching fellow, for a conversation about generative artificial intelligence on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 12:30 p.m. in the 707 Building room 330B.

Teachers are encouraged to communicate early and often with their students about generative AI policies and about how generative artificial intelligence may impact their students’ educations and vocations. These moments are also opportunities to communicate with our students about the value of a Jesuit education for personal formation and social justice. Clear communication regarding generative AI and Jesuit educational values, especially when reinforced with purposeful curriculum and assignment design choices, can be a powerful tool for encouraging reflection on the role of generative AI in the classroom and beyond.

How can teachers speak with students about the value of a Jesuit education in the age of generative AI? How can thinking about the usefulness of generative AI help people think about the value of a Jesuit education? How can teachers teach students to think deeply not only about the usefulness of technology but also about the meaning of their own personal formation and learning experiences?
