Over spring break, while most students were enjoying a well-deserved rest, the Boise State Valorant team was grinding—and it paid off in a big way.

The Broncos took home first place at the Vanta Esports Hawaii Invitational, a national collegiate tournament hosted in partnership with the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. The event brought together top college esports teams from across the country to compete in Valorant, Riot Games’ hit tactical shooter.

With leadership from Coach K and Nom, the Boise State squad demonstrated exceptional teamwork and composure throughout the tournament. They powered through the bracket and delivered a dominant performance in the finals to secure the championship title.

“One of my favorite things about this team is that they don’t give a damn about what anybody thinks of them,” said Doc Haskell, Head Coach of Boise State Esports. “They don’t care if people think they’re the best or not. They have no ego about it. There are other teams—that’s all they think about. They simply do the work. No one should want to play this squad that Coach K and Nom lead.”

This championship marks another milestone for Boise State Esports, one of the top collegiate esports programs in the nation. The team continues to build a culture focused on discipline, humility, and competitive excellence.

This was the Bronco’s first trip to the Vanta Invitational, and the first time Boise State Esports has competed on the islands. The Broncos also competed in the Open Smash Tournament, and participated in a cultural exchange with players from the other competing schools.

While in Hawai’i, the Boise State Valorant team achieved another milestone: qualification for the Mountain West Championship game and the CECC National Championship tournament. The Bronco’s win over Hawai’i Manoa qualified them for both events.
