Based on Chugong’s webtoon, illustrated by the late Jang “Dubu” Sung-rak, Solo Leveling has become an anime phenomenon.
The original web novel, serialized on KakaoPage from 2016 to 2018, paved the way for the webtoon adaptation from July 25, 2016, to October 10, 2018. It was later adapted into a webtoon illustrated by Jang Sung-rak, also known as Dubu, which ran from March 4, 2018, to December 29, 2021.
The anime adaptation by A-1 Pictures brings Solo Leveling’s battles and character arcs to the screen, retelling Sung Jinwoo’s journey for longtime fans while introducing his story to new viewers.

Solo Leveling first debuted as an anime series on January 7, 2024, with its season finale airing on March 31, 2024.
The first season showed Jinwoo’s transformation from a weak hunter to a powerful solo raiding hero, showcasing his struggles and triumphs in a world where mysterious gates connect Earth to realms of monstrous creatures.
Season 2 premiered on January 4, 2025, picking up where the story left off with the start of the Red Gate arc.
The show follows Sung Jinwoo’s new class as a necromancer and his encounters with formidable adversaries while unraveling deeper secrets about the gates and the forces that threaten humanity.
